Some children spend hours every day on their smartphones. Why is this the case? Do you think this is a positive or a negative development?

Task answer

Nowadays, children are spending quite a bit of time on their smartphones due to the widespread use of educational applications and virtual relationships on social platforms. While some may argue that this trend brings positive effects, I firmly believe it is a negative development. This essay will discuss how using smartphones promotes cognitive impairments and social isolation, outweighing any potential benefits. First off, over-using mobile phones impairs educational and intellectual growth, as these phones often provide inferior opportunities for learning. Throughout history, many influential figures, at an early age, have avoided applying their phones in their routine. For instance, renowned scholars, including Ibn Sina and Mulla Sadra, achieved their groundbreaking contributions after refraining from the usage of handy phones during their childhood. If not for their avoidance, we would not see a dramatic change in the history of human thought now. Secondly, time-consuming applications on smartphones would be able to pose a threat to children's privacy. American scientific theories of security research state the use of smartphones, at an early age, resulted in xenophobia at a later age. For instance, in the early 2010s, after an Iranian child's video was uploaded, while awkwardly answering a question designed by his teacher, he did not continue his academic career forever owing to being ridiculed in public areas. Had his classmates not mostly brought smartphones to record the video, he would not have been socially forced to leave his educational progress because of others. Admittedly, depriving of smartphone usage can pose challenges, such as socializing and learning via educational apps. However, these issues can often be mitigated through effective educational planning and technological advancements. When weighed against the substantial drawbacks of intellectual and security development, the cons of this device far surpasses its pros. In conclusion, the historical and contemporary evidence strongly supports the notion that using smartphones, in the long run, is a negative development. By debilitating intellectual breakthroughs and individual privacy, this phenomenon has played a vital role in shaping one's future. While good points exist, they are far outweighed by the long-term drawbacks that mobile phones bring to both individuals and societies.
