Task description

The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

You should write a minimum of 150 words.

Task answer

The table compares the percentages of expenditure on various consumer products and services in five different countries in the year of 2002. It is clear that the highest percentage of money spent on food,drinks and tobacco was 32.14% in Turkey. While,the percentage of that spent on leisure and education at 1.98% was lowest in Spain in the given year. According to the table,Turkey spent the most percentage of money on the category of food,drinks and tobacco at 32.14% when Italy spent just 16.36% of their money on this. Moreover,Ireland also spent more money on food category at 28.91% compare to Spain which was 18.80%.In addition, Sweden spent only 15.77% of their money in this category. On the other hand,all five countries spent lowest percentages on leisure and education which was under 5%.Only Turkey spent most money on it which was just 4.35% and the remaining countries spent only 3.22%,3.20%,2.21% and 1.98% respectively in 2002. In turms of clothing and footwear, Italy spent 9% of their money which was most and Sweden spent 5.40% which was lowest in this category. Lastly, the rest of the countries took almost same expenditure which was around 6.5% in the given year.
