Local history interest is a topic well known globally, people are usually interested in knowing more and more about historical events, especially when it comes to their own houses. Over the years, this interest has grown significantly. One outstanding reason for this could be curiosity, and people can easily find out and research about the history of their house through the local real estate broker, or simply the Internet. Overtime, people can also develop a strong emotional connect with the house or building they live in, due to all the good memories that they might have, or simply, just by living there for most of their life. Another good reason for this, that could also be the reason that people show interest in finding out about the history of their property, could be inheritance, in cases, one might have inherited their property from elders, and start showing interest in finding out about where the property came from in the first place. Social media, also has a great influence in making people interested in learning about the history of their property.. In order to gather more information on the history of a property, people can use multiple resources, like local libraries or archives and old maps, another easy to access source could be online databases and historical societies. As always, the most accurate information regarding a property, will come from previous residents or local historians In conclusion, interest in housing history has multiple reasons, with the strongest one being curiosity. Nowadays, with social media being integrated into everyone's daily lives, we can easily look up information on our property to feed off that curiosity, however, the importance of local history is far more greater than a satisfaction for curiosity, studying local history, has multiple benefits, and it should be considered an important act of man kind, to learn about the past, especially their own past.
