Task answer
The preference to live either in a house or in an apartment presents unique benefits and drawbacks on both ends. While one might be allured to living in a detached building for the sake of increased privacy and less noise from neighbors, others might find it appealing to live in an apartment building due to the price of rent and closer proximity to others around. I believe there are more benefits than setbacks in living in a house than in an apartment complex.
In a world where people are becoming more concerned with their security and privacy, many, if given the opportunity would prefer living in a detached or semi-detached house. Living alone, or with neighbors not a wall away, provide a sense of privacy. In a fenced bungalow, the possibility of being easily attacked by buglers is slimmer. Whereas, in an apartment building, your next-door neighbor can easily study your daily routine, know your time away from home, and break into your house in your absence.
On the other hand, staying in an apartment building can present some benefits. Closer proximity to others can be beneficial to the elderly who stay alone. They can easily alert people in case of an emergency. They can also easily ask for help with their errands to kids around, such as shopping for groceries and toiletries or picking up their mail from the mailbox. A luxury that only elderly couples living with a relative or caretaker (which comes at a high cost) can afford. Also, the cost of renting an apartment is far more meager than the cost of renting an entire house.
To sum up, the choice to live in an apartment or in a house boils down to either individual preferences and needs or financial abilities. One has to weigh the pros and the cons when making such an important decision. However, I believe that the advantages of staying in a house outweigh those of living in an apartment.
