The table compares the data of metro systems in terms of the open date, the amount of route length, and the number of passengers, in three continents, including Asia, Europe, and America. Overall, while London had the oldest subway system, Los Angeles had the newest one. The longest railway belonged to London. In contrast, the shortest one was for Kyoto. Whereas the number of passengers ranked first in Tokyo, the minimum amount of travelers was for Kyoto, interestingly both of the cities are located in Japan. The oldest opening date was for European countries, London and Paris in the years 1863 and 1900 respectively and Tokyo ranked third among them. However, the number of Japanese passengers in Tokyo stood at the highest figures, with 1927 million people per year, compared to its European counterpart, with 1191 for Paris and 775 for London. The newest metro system, among the recent ones, was for Los Angeles opened in 2001. The figure for routes in Kyoto was the shortest one, just above 10. The figure for the recent ones indicated the shortest distance of the railway and the number of passengers.
