Task answer

It is argued that recently people have been generating more waste. The rationale behind this phenomenon is that capitalistic economic approaches encourage people to consume without any limitation, and the solution to this predicament is the interference of governments in economic activities by enhancing tax. Producing waste materials is one of the aftermaths of laissez-faire. This is to say based on this approach, there is not any regulation for laypeople for transaction in markets. In this way, people without knowing any consequences of their consuming utilize whatever they want, leading to a huge amount of waste. The Economist magazine, for instance, recently published a paper about the effect of a libertarian economic system in which in the recent decades most countries applying this approach have resulted in the highest proportion of waste production compared to any other country using a much more restricted way of administering. To tackle this dilemma, governments are responsible for preventing the cause of this problem by imposing higher taxes. This means that officials should enact some regulations in which any government has enough autonomy to regulate economic systems and act against consumerism with a tax system. With the intervention of governments to this extent, we can have much hope of seeing a waste reduction. For example, applying governmental regulation with the highest amount of tax for producing waste in the United Kingdom made a difference in laypeople consumption, resulting in having less waste products per capita, which is not comparable with before. In conclusion, the primary cause of producing rubbish is not suitable economic system which support people to consume more and the solution to this problem is imposing tax.
