While some posit that an demographic shift toward an older population acts as a catalyst for governmental issues, others contend that it is beneficial to society. I lean towards the latter as the elderly proffers society positively through wisdom and experience. Granted, an ever-growing rate of older population might stifle fiscal disbursement on government. It strains the public budget under the burden of a higher total cost of health and retirement programs. As people age, obviously they require a high frequency of medical care to prevent health problems and novel diseases, if not taken into consideration, those challenges would result in debilitating condition or chronic illness, costing an exorbitant amount of money. For example, older people would likely to encounter cancer and malfunctions in bones due to old age, requiring long-term services and care, causing the government to splurge more money on if the old rate keeps escalating. Conversely, the merits of an ageing population is undeniable in terms of helping younger generation with expertise in particular fields. Older people could help preserving invaluable experience, which is indispensable in the process of maturity and learning; one can seek insights from their older family members. Advice from older one is the perfect illustration of this, as it assists the young in navigating through difficulties. Moreover, the pass-down recipe and technique from the experienced had been proven to improve one's nation economy with Brazil leading the top coffee producer with a beds of coffee cultivated in shaded nurseries, yielding more qualified products. In summation, while there exists both merits and demerits, i believe that an ageing population is beneficial to the society with the experience and expertise in which the older provide. Simultaneously, the government should also publicize an effective measure in controlling the growing rate of older population so as to reduce costs in medical fields.
