The statistics table chart illustrates the data of six subway systems in six individual urban areas. In general, London was the earliest established subway, in contrast to Los Angeles, which had the most recently developed one. London's railway system has the longest average route compared to the other 5 underground railway systems. Although Kyoto’s railway system was not the most recently established, it has the least average route length and passengers per year, by comparison, Tokyo's railway system has the highest number of annual passengers in 6 subway systems. Tokyo's subway was established in 1927, 64 years later than London, however, it had 1927 million passengers annually, which was higher than London's railway system (775 million) and Paris's subway system ( 1191 million). The average route length of Paris's railway system established in 1900 was 199 kilometers, which was longer than Tokyo's 44 kilometers, but shorter than London's 195 kilometers. According to the table, the shortest average route length and the least passenger annually metro system was in Kyotomestablished in 1981, with only 11 kilometers per route and 45 million passengers per year. In comparison, the newest system in Los Angeles opened in 2001 had 28 kilometers per route and 50 million annually, although Washington DC had 144 million passengers and 11 kilometers per route.
