Task answer
The given data shows percentages of expense on different things by Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey residents in year 2002 across three categories- edibles, outfits and activities.
Overall, all five countries spent the highest percentage of their budgets on food, drinks, and tobacco, while leisure and education received the smallest share of spending. Turkey allocated the highest proportion of spending on food and education, whereas Sweden consistently spent the least across most categories.
In terms of food, drinks, and tobacco, Turkey topped the list with 32.14%, followed closely by Ireland at 28.91%. In contrast, Sweden and Italy had the lowest expenditures in this category, at 15.77% and 16.36% respectively.
When it comes to clothing and footwear, Italy had the highest consumer spending at 9%, while Sweden recorded the lowest at 5.4%. The remaining three countries—Turkey, Ireland, and Spain—showed relatively similar figures ranging from approximately 6.5% to 6.6%. As for leisure and education, Turkey again led with the highest spending (4.35%), followed by Sweden (3.22%) and Italy (3.2%). Spain recorded the lowest proportion in this category at just 1.98%.
