Task answer
In a large number of nations over the world, as the positive health problem, citizens now have a longer expactancy than that in the past. Some individuals suggest that the old can cause some detrimental problems for the governments, while others think the elderly people can bring the community merits. Despite some obvious disadvantages of this trend, I believe that these are outweighed by the advantages.
On the one hand, the ageing population has an adverse impact on the authority to some extent. Firstly, the more a number of old people increased, the more social welfare the government have to spend. This is because some old residents choose to live alone instead of marrying or live with their children, the government should pay attention to them who have underpriviledged status in society. In recent research of Tuoi Tre magazine, the rate of ageing population steadily goes up in Japan, which country has a thriving economy but gradually encountering some difficulties of the lack of young employees and investment in nursing home to take care of the old.
On the other hand, I believe the merits of this trend will be more significant. First and foremost, people aged over 60 play integral parts in building the prosperous society. Some famous scientists or teachers who are over 70 still devote their time to the whole development ofthe country through the depth of their knowledge, which can set good examples for the younger generation in the future. For example, Mr. Bui Hien who spent all of his life in the career of revolunizing the vietnamese with a view to having a more symtematic and valid language. Addtionally, the ageing people are indispensible in humans' daily lives as they are the ones who nurture the young and help them be more well-educated and successfull.
In conclusion, although there are mixed opinions about determing whether the old population takes a toll on the society and the government, I strongly oppose this suggestion. Not only this measure lead to a thriving economy for the nation, but it also is challenging for the authority to addressthe generation gap between the old and the young.
