The bar chart below compares the number of visitors travelling abroad in Japan from 1985 to 1995, in millions. The line graph presents data of Australia's share of the Japanese tourist market, in percentage. Overall, it is clear that Japan is a place of interest for tourist throughout the period shown. Furthermore, there was also an upward trend in Australia's market share of Japan's market regarding tourism during the same period. In 1985, the figure for tourists reaching Japan was the least, at around 5%. In contrast, 1995 was the year attracting tourists the most in Japan, with the 14,5 peak. Remarkably, the numbers journeying to Japan equalized in 1992 and 1993. From 1985 to 1989, the proportion of share coming to Australia saw a marginal increase from 2% to a little over 4%. Since then, that figure rose steadily to 6% in 1995, with the peak at over 6% in 1993.
