Task answer
The table illustrates the proportion of customer spending on three casual purposes in 2002, recorded in five different countries.
Overall, expenditure on food, drinks, and tobacco accounted for most of the citizens' budgets in all countries, while least money was allocated for leisure or educational activities.
Beginning with food, drinks, and tobacco, Turkey observed the highest figure for this category, with over 32% of consumers' money was spent, followed by Ireland, with a slightly lower percentage of almost 29%. The remaining countries' figures were fairly equivalent, in which people devoted between 15% to 18% of their budgets in Italy, Spain, and Sweden.
Regarding clothing and footwear, all figures were the second highest in every country, with the leading share of 9% in Italy. Meanwhile, while Swedish people only allocated the lowest spending of 5.4% for clothes, the people in the remaining countries spent the similar amount of money, with the average rate of 6.5%.
In terms of the budget for leisure and education, all countries witnessed the lowest money devoted for this figure, with the lowest figure of under 2% for Spain, followed by the second lowest share of 2.21% in Ireland. By contrast, the highest proportions were Turkey (4.35%), Sweden(3.22%) , and Italy (3.2%).
