Task answer
While the first graph illustrates the percentages of households with washing machine, refrigerator , and vacuum cleaner from 1920 to 2019, the second depicts the corresponding amount of time using for housework.
Overall, the ownership of all three devices increased overtime, which means a growth in economical condition together with living standards of inhabitants . In contrast, the number of hours of housework per week per household experienced a decrease. This is rational as a consequence of the rising in convenience brought by modern devices.
Regarding the growth in refrigerator's ownership, it started at almost 0% in 1920, and then jumped to 100% in only 60 years. Whereas, other devices' figure had a far higher intial point, which respectively is a third for vacuum cleaner and two fifth for washing machine, but saw smaller rising. In detail, both of them increased to 70% in 1960. Then, while vaccum cleaner still grew linearly to 90% in 1980 compared to nearly 65% of the other's figure, which had experienced a decline. In the rest of time, it is recorded that all families had possessed vaccum cleaner since 2000. However, until 2019, washing machine possession just occupied about 70%.
In terms of the weekly total time using for housework, the line graph began at 50 hours in 1920, followed by a significant drop of 30 hours in the next 40 years. Apparently, this is relevant to the growth of refrigerator in the same time. Similarly, the number of hours continued to goes down to only 10 hours in 2019.
