In certain countries, the rate of youth unemployment is alarmingly high. What do you think are the causes of high unemployment rates among young people? What can be done to improve their employment prospects? Provide reasons and examples based on your knowledge or experience in at least 250 words.

Task answer

The higher unemployment rate among the young generation in some countries is increasing. In my point of view, the main cause behind the situation is fewer employment opportunities. Companies should take necessary action to curb the issue. To begin with, the youth graduating from colleges have limited options for work. It is seen that many companies allow their older employees to work till a later age. Hence, old people still work at the same place in order to earn money for their expenses. As a result, job openings for newly graduated students decrease, and they need to stay jobless for cetain period of time. For instance, in India, many factories allow their employees to work even after their retirement, which causes an employment crisis for new generations. This issue can be mitigated by imposing certain rules and regulations on factories. If people are restricted to work after the certain age, many new job position will be openned for young generations. Which may lead to solve the unemployment issue. For example, in Japan, it is compulsory for companies to retire their workers when they are 65 years old. As a result, recently graduated students get a job quickly, leading to a reduction in youth unemployment. To conclude, in my opinion, allowing people to work till a later age blocks the opportunities for youths. By implementing a compulsory retirement rule for employees will offer more chances for the young generation to work in the comapnies and the unemployment rate among youth can be mitigated.
