Task answer

The table presents data on the percentage of consumer expenditure on three categories--food, drinks, and tobacco, clothing and footware, and leisure and education--across five different countries in 2002. Overall, all five countries spent the largest proportion of their income on food, drinks, and tobacco, while spending on leisure and education was consistently the lowest. Among the countries, Turkey had the highest percentage of spending on food-related items, whereas Sweden recorded the lowest in all categories except leisure and education. In terms of food, drinks, and tobacco, Turkey was the leading country with 32.14% of total consumer spending, followed by Ireland at 28.91%. The remaining three countries--Spain, Italy, and Sweden--spent less than 20% on this category, with Sweden recording the lowest figure (15.77%). Expenditure on clothing and footware was highest in Italy at 9.00%, while other countries reported figures between 5% and 7%. Sweden again constituted the lowest proportion at 5.40%. Moreover, leisure and education witnessed the lowest figures across all countries. Turkey spent the most in this category (4.35%), while Spain recorded the least, at just 1.98%. The other countries spent between 2% and 3.2%.
