Task answer

The bar chat illustrates the number of Japanese tourists travelling abroad, while the line graph depicts Australia's share of the Japanese tourist market from 1985 to 1995. Overall, the quantity of Japanese tourists travelling abroad increased steadily, with minor fluctuations in the mid-period. Similarly, the number of Japanese tourists entering Australia rose gradually each year, with a short period of decline between 1988 and 1989. In 1985, approximately 5 million Japanese tourists travelled abroad, while every year this figure increased except for in 1991. This figure reached around 11 million in 1990, and after that experienced marginal decline by 1991, however, the number stayed above the 10 million threshold. From that point on, it rebounded and continued the upward trend. The most significant shift occured between 1994 and 1995, climbing from 13 million to a peak of 15 million. Meanwhile, Japan's tourist market had an overall increasing impact on Australia. In 1985, only 2% of the Japanese visited Australia. This figure rose markedly to nearly 5% by 1988, before a period of decline, reaching around 4% in 1989. From that time on, it started to gradually rise again, reaching a peak of more than 6% by 1993. From 1993 to 1994, Australia experienced a minimal fall, hitting 6% of Japan's tourist market.
