Task answer
History is fascinating. With the stories they tell and the accompanying knowledge one might learn, it is pretty common for people to ask about it. Especially since they will be living in that space, they wouldn't want an unexpected surprise right on their doorstep when they wake up one day. Personally, I would do it too.
It's pretty common for buildings or homes to be built to a land with historical significance. Future owners are particularly interested about it so they'll know how to properly take care of it and preserve its significance. Another reason would be because the buyers may be history fanatics, wanting to own something with value and hidden secrets they can explore further. Additionally, they want to avoid living someplace or renting out a place that's haunted or are historically linked with either a cult or a serial killer as this could be uncomfortable for them, especially if they have kids.
The most common way to learn about a place's history is via the realtor that is in charge of selling it or the neighbors living in the area. This is because sometimes, realtors tend to leave out details that can potentially scare costumers. Another is by visiting the local library or searching it up through google and browsing websites.
It's good to be interested about a house or building's history before actually purchasing or moving in. This helps us get a feel of the place as well as if it would be an ideal environment to live in.
