Task answer
Recently, technological advancements can be highly observed. With that, people are getting more worried about their digital privacy. A question is whether this should be the role of governments only or individuals as well. In my opinion, this is mainly the responsibility of the government, with minor roles on individuals.
Governments have the technology necessary to deal with and monitor the digital privacy of individuals. Its roles involve monitoring online activities by protecting a user's browsing history and social media interactions from being tracked and used without consent. In addition to that, authorities have a responsibility in protecting personal information against hacking and malware, which can lead to identity theft. For example, studies have shown an increased number of financial fraud and identity theft due to the sheer amount of online transactions; therefore, the prevalence of such issues should be addressed, and certain measures should be implemented. Measures can include more tight security questions and a more secure verification of users.
Individuals aren't required to hold the full accountability but need to practice certain protective measures. These include refraining from sharing personal details and bank account information on suspicious websites. It is also a necessity for people to report any shady practices that they encounter, which could be harmful. Together with the main role of authorities, special personnel, and users, digital privacy can be shielded from any misuse. Governments usually list emergency numbers, which are accessed by users to report any violations of their calls, sensitive personal details, or their rights online.
In conclusion, governments play the vital and bigger role in protecting digital privacy, with individuals practicing a smaller, yet important role. Together, both provide secure digital privacy for users online.
