Task answer

In many countries, young people have very limited leisure time and face significant pressure to perform well in their studies. This situation is becoming increasingly common, and there are several reasons behind it. However, there are also effective measures that can help ease this burden. One major cause is the growing competition in education and employment. Many students believe that high grades are essential to secure a good career in the future. As a result, they spend long hours studying, attending extra classes, and preparing for competitive exams. For example, in countries like India and South Korea, it is common for students to study late into the night to stay ahead of their peers. Additionally, parents often have high expectations and push their children to excel academically, placing extra pressure on them. Another factor is the influence of modern technology. With online learning platforms, digital assignments, and constant connectivity, students are rarely able to disconnect from their academic responsibilities. Even during weekends, they may receive school emails or online homework that reduces their free time. This constant engagement with studies leaves little room for relaxation, hobbies, or social activities. To address these issues, schools and governments should promote a more balanced approach to education. Introducing flexible timetables, reducing the volume of homework, and encouraging extracurricular activities can help students maintain a healthier lifestyle. Parents also play a key role by setting realistic expectations and supporting their children’s emotional well-being rather than focusing solely on academic results. Furthermore, schools can provide counselling services to help students manage stress more effectively. In conclusion, the lack of leisure time among young people is largely due to academic competition and technological demands. By creating a more balanced educational environment and offering better support, both schools and families can help reduce the pressure on students and improve their overall quality of life.
